Crochet Flower Earrings

Here is the crochet and beading patterns for the 'flower earrings'.
They're very straight forward to make and I've posted both the written and drawn pattern.

To make the Crochet Flower

Materials
Cotton thread. I use DMC (in varying colours) but I'm not sure what thickness? like these.
1mm hook

Pattern
Ch6, join to make circle.
Round 1: Ch 2 (first hdc), 23hdc around in circle, join to first hdc.
Round 2: Ch2 (first hdc), {skip 2hdc & hdc in 3rd hdc from hook, ch4. hdc in same hdc} Repeat 6 more times. Skip 2 hdc & hdc in 3rd hdc from hook, ch4. Join to top of first hdc.
Round 3: {6hdc in ch 4, sc between two hdc} repeat 7 more times. Join and sew in end to finish.

To make Flower Earrings

Materials
  • Two ear hook
  • 6 lengths of 2x3mm chain, each 2 links long.
  • 2 x Crochet Flowers
  • 4 wire rings (to join chain to crochet flower)
  • 2 x head pins + extra for connecting beads
  • 2 x feature beads
  • 6 x small metal beads
  • 2 x large metal beads
Connect all as described in the diagram below.

I hope you enjoy

Note: I've amended this pattern (2nd November) to American crochet speak rather than my own strange crochet language which was my translation for the Spanish.
It should be much easier now, but please let me know if there are still problems : )

  3. Oh these are adorable! I found this through Whip Up. One quick question, are these American Crochet Terms or UK terms? I always ask if it's nto indicated before I start a project.

    Than you!

  4. Thanks for your lovely comments : )
Crystal that's a really good question and I'm not sure of the answer. My mother in law taught me how to crochet in Spanish and I've only ever read Spanish patterns, so maybe American terms? I'm going to investigate tonight and get back to you/ amend the pattern. Thank you

  8. thanks for sharing this pattern! Did you stiffen the flowers at all, or just leave them as-is?

  9. Hi Olivia,
After many, many, many attempts (I am teaching myself crochet) I seem to have something that resembles your earrings, minus one petal!
I am really enjoying your blog and look forward to learning more from you.
    Thanks for sharing your patterns.

  10. Thanks for your lovely comments!

To stiffen the flowers firstly I run a thread around the back and pull it tight.

If it needs more paint a little bit of clear nail polish on the back of the flower.

    1. try chain 3, then 23 hdc's into the first chain, pull tail tight to create the "ring" and ss into top ch2 or top of first hdc, just made one, but can't remember exactly where i did the ss...hope that helps

  24. Hi, your pattern is great, i just made one with a soft fingering yarn and a 2mm hook...based on your picture with the stitches, i would say it is American crochet terms...plus anyone having trouble crocheting 23 hdc's into the ring, I just chained three, crocheted the 23 into the first chain, joined with ss to top of first hdc and pulled tail tight

    1. Hi Jeanne,
I think they should be around 2cm (less than an inch).
I probably used 12 Pearl Cotton with a 1mm hook but I haven't made them for years!!
      All the best with them!
      xx Olivia

  27. I crocheted a few pairs of earrings using this pattern. The first one I did, I accidentally started with dc instead of hdc, but it ended up okay. The second pair I followed the pattern exactly. You can see them here (there are other earrings I made posted there, too):

  29. Thank you for this pattern. I just made this up using a 30 thread in multi color hombre and like the way it came out. I like the finer threads, and personally like smaller body jewelry, but love that this can be done in any weight thread. I did modify the starting chain and used the double loop ring start method rather than the 6-chain ring. For me, the loop methods is easier to slide the next round of stitches along and I can pull the tail of the loop and make a very tight and stiff center ring. :)
