Moving

I'm saying good bye to Un Jardin de Hilo blog and starting with a new blog, which you can find here at http://oliviamunroedesign.com/blog/

I'll be continuing on Facebook and hopefully in the future back on etsy.

Stop by and let me know what you think.

This is a mobile I made for my new niece in Australia. I didn't get I photo of it before hand so this was taken after it arrived (it looks a little squashed after it's long trip).
For the crochet birds I used a pattern from a Japanese Craft Book called the 'new collection amigurumi' which I got my hands on via etsy. I've since seen lots of similar pattern books free online (in Picasa Web Albums) like this one (link) which looks very cute too. Also have a look at this album in Pinterest (link) it's full of good links.

A few things I've been working on ...

It's been a long time since I've posted here!! and there's been lots of changes in my life. I now have a little boy who's almost two and we've moved out of Madrid to a house in the country side ...

Anyway over the last two years (in my spare moments) I've been working on a few crochet projects that I've posted on my Facebook page and I thought that it was about time I posted them here too.

Firstly a big crochet blanket that I made for a friends wedding present, that was inspired by  a blanket by Attic24.

Un Jardin De Hilo

It's been nearly a year since I posted here in Un Jardin De Hilo, I keep planning to continue but it never seems to happen...
In the mean time you can find me here on Facebook where I regularly post new crochet patterns I come across and also some photos of what I've been working on over the last year :)
See you there.

I love a bit of lacey crochet, even though I don't have the pacience to do it myself.
Here are a few images that I've come accross over the last few weeks (some of which I've already posted to Facebook).

1.A crochet doily (starched) bowl. Found here.
2. A beautiful crochet covered tree by Wooly Fabulous.
3. Crochet bed spread by Valerie Teppo. You can find the pattern here on Ravelry.
4. Blue silk crochet dress by Oscar de la Renta.

2011

I've been back in Madrid for almost two weeks now from a month long winter/ summer break in Australia, but haven't yet had a chance to get back to my blog. I think this year is going to be a bit like this in general, between study (until the end of April) and the baby (due the beginning of May), but I will try and stop in occasionally to add any new patterns/ cool crochet things  I come across and also show you any little things I'm working on ... I also have a long over due giveaway coming very soon!

Above are some images from a website I came across this week.
The brand is call Free People and they have some gorgeous things, including I few crochet numbers :)
I'm guessing they're not made by hand as they would be priceless!

coming up to christmas ...

I've been updating my etsy shop this morning as it will only be open for one more week before I close up for the christmas break.

A new little blanket

This is a new little blanket I've been working on over the last few weeks.
The overall design is based on Attic24's very Sweet Flower Granny and for the squares I used the Summer Garden Granny Square
I had the same problem with these squares as with my last Granny Blanket, which is that they curled in the corners ... I'm not sure why I always seem to have this problem? Maybe I crochet too tightly?
Anyway I ended up adding an extra chain to all the corners and that seemed to sort things out.
Now all I have left to do is the edging.
I've been fairly absent from my blog over the last few months.
At first due to morning sickness :) which thankfully disappeared a few weeks ago.
Secondly due to a Masters in the design and development of web pages, which I started last week. It's like learning a completely new language, which is taught in a relatively new language (Spanish) ... so I think it's going to demand a fair amount of my time over the next 5 months.
I'll still be popping in here now and again to show you what I'm working on (I've already started on my next blanket ) and to post any good crochet patterns I come across.

I've been a little more active on my Facebook page ... posting patterns etc so make sure you keep in touch over there as well.
xx

Japanese Pattern Book wish list ...

I've never sewn anything from a Japanese Pattern Book so I'm not yet sure if they're gorgeous patterns/designs or the books just have great photos and styling. In any case I think I'm going to have to give it I try soon.

The above images are from my list of current favorites.
1. My First Baby Dress
2. Hand Made Gift For Baby
3. My Ordinary Natural Clothes
4. My Favorite Style

New Wool & blanket plans

Inspired by the wonderful blog Attic24, this morning I´ve been wool shopping.
I´m giving my eyes and fingers a little break from making jewelry after the Nomada Market last weekend (photos and post coming soon) and instead planning a new crochet blanket.
I´m still not sure what form it will take? maybe something like in Image 1 below from Attic24, a mixture of little and big crochet squares (without the little flowers). Or something like in image 2 from The Light Garden, a little blanket made from four large squares ...

Designer - Mochimochi Land

How cute are these!
You can see more of these cute little creations in the Gallery section of Mochimochi´s web page (click here).
There is also a how to section where you can find some tutorials and a shop where you can buy both the knitting patterns and finished
tiny toys.
Unfortunately for me they´re knitted and I know I would never have the patience to make them ... but I love them all the same.

New Leaf Skeleton Earrings

These are some new earrings I've been working on.
What do you think of them?
I've had them sitting on my desk for quite a while waiting for the arrival of some new earring wires (with a ball on the end).
My collection is slowly growing for the 1st of October!
Next I have to start making the display.

Natural Tones ...

It's been a while since I put together an Etsy Treasury.
I really enjoy making them (other than they take a bit of time) searching through images and shops and discovering new items and makers (and sometime their blogs) ... so this is long over due.

Market

I've been I bit absent lately, spending all my free hours making and leaving no energy or head space for blogging.
But last Friday I did take some new photos to show you a few of the things I've been working on (you can see more on my flickr page by clicking here).

Below is the poster for the Nomada Market which I will be participating in this October.
I'm very excited that I got a space in the upcoming event as it's a really popular/busy market in the centre of Madrid, which is on every few months.
So I'm going to busy up until then :)
